Due to the current circumstances, construction costs would be 20 percent more expensive than planned, the Tigers write in a press release. The risk of an unforeseeable cost development would largely rest on the family of president Peter Jakob, who is assuming 90 percent of the planned construction costs of CHF 19 million.
The postponement, however, is not a cancellation of the project, Jakob says: "We are sticking to the necessity of our project. Only with an expanded and professional infrastructure will the SCL Tigers be able to play ice hockey in the highest national league in the future."
The Tigers are going to reassess the situation in the fall. As soon as the situation eases, construction planning will be continued. The approval for construction of the "Eisfeld Zwei" remains valid until spring 2023.
