In 2018, Matthew Verboon left Genève-Servette HC's youth department for North America. After one season in the BCHL, he joined the NCAA's Colgate University. His time there is coming to an end. The 22-year-old has drawn interest from his home country, notably from HC Lugano, as Blick notes. GSHC was also interested but got turned down.
In his four University-years, Verboon has made 109 games for Colgate, recording 25 goals and 41 assists. When he still was young enough, the forward was a frequent member of the Swiss junior national teams.
