Marco Mathis retires after the first season of his two-year deal with Winterthur.

After a difficult season in which he could only play eight games due to health problems, Marco Mathis has decided to hang up his skates and begin a new professional challenge with EV Zug. There, Mathis will work in the coaching staff of the goaltending department, a capacity he already took on this season with EHC Winterthur.
Following the retirement of Mathis, EHC Winterthur does not have any goaltender under contract for the 2021-22 season, as Justin Gianola's contract is expiring in spring 2021.
