In addition to these five acquisitions, the Valaisans also announced several extensions and the retirement of Sandro Wiedmer.

Raphaël Kuonen returns to his hometown.

The roster of EHC Visp for the 2021-22 season is taking shape. Starting from the goaltender position, 22-year-old Matteo Ritz returns to his formative club where he will partner up with Reto Lory, who, for his part, has received a two-year extension. Ritz last played in the Swiss League with HC La Chaux-de-Fonds.

Also arriving from La Chaux-de-Fonds is one of the two new additions in the defense department, namely Philip Åhlström. The 25-year-old will wear Visp's jersey for the next two years. Moreover, the Lions have reinforced their defense with Giacomo Casserini. Casserini, 30, leaves HC Ajoie after eight years and also received a two-year contract. Finally, defenders Andy Furrer and Fabian Eggenberger have both signed an extension until 2023, while Sandro Wiedmer hangs up his skates.

As for the offense department, EHC Visp announced three extensions: Sandro Brügger (2022), Fabian Haberstich and Dario Burgener (both until 2023). From August, they will share the ice of the Lonza Arena with the newly-signed forwards Raphaël Kuonen and Evgenï Chiriaev. Kuonen, 29, returns to his formative club after five seasons in the National League with the SCL Tigers, while Chiriaev, 31, has spent the last four years of his career with EHC Olten. Whereas Kuonen has been signed to a three-year deal, Chiriaev will stay for two seasons.
