With five days to go until the NHL's trade deadline, the Toronto Maple Leafs announced that they have acquired Denis Malgin from their divisional rival in exchange for Mason Marchment. The latter is set to report to Florida's AHL-affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds.
As for Malgin, the Swiss forward made his NHL debut with the Panthers in the 2016-17 season. Ever since, the 23-year-old has appeared in 184 games on NHL level, recording 60 points (28 goals, 32 assists). He is a product of EHC Biel and the ZSC Lions.
Malgin is in possession of a one-year, one-way contract, which is set to expire at the end of this season. He will become a restricted free agent.
Apparently, Malgin's agent has asked Florida's general manager Dave Tallon to trade his client, Pierre LeBrun (TSN) writes.
