Thürkauf will become a restricted free agent this summer, so it remains to be seen whether the Blue Jackets will qualify him or not. "In the eyes of the club, you are often viewed as a piece of meat. My future is uncertain," Thürkauf tells the Luzerner Zeitung. "Of course, I would like to continue working on my goal to establish myself in the NHL."

Thürkauf does not exclude the possibility of a return to his youth team, EV Zug. He does, however, clearly state that the NHL is his number one priority.

The 22-year-old forward made his NHL debut this season, playing three games for the Jackets. He also recorded nine goals and 17 assists in 53 games for the Cleveland Monsters, the Blue Jackets' AHL affiliate.
