As expected, Kevin Fiala will not return to the Minnesota Wild for the upcoming 2022-23 season. Rather, he will play for the Los Angeles Kings, who have acquired the rights of the pending restricted free agent. The Los Angeles Kings send their first-round pick of the 2022 draft (No. 19) and prospect Brock Faber (the 45th choice in the 2020 draft) the other way.

The Los Angeles Kings are now expected to sign the 25-year-old to a seven-year contract, with an AAV of possibly 7.9 million, according to David Pagnotta (The Fourth Period) and Elliotte Friedman (Sportsnet). Fiala had a career-high in goals (33), assists (52), and points (85) in 82 games for the Wild this season.
