Mathias Seger played 19 seasons for the ZSC Lions before he retired at the end of the 2017-18 season. He was an important figure in Swiss ice hockey, not only for his team but also for the Swiss national team. He won six championships with the ZSC Lions and took part in four Olympic Games and 16 World Championships with the Swiss national team.
Mark Streit, who retired in 2018, was the first Swiss field player to really establish himself in the NHL. Drafted by the Montreal Canadiens, he captained the New York Islanders for two years: a first as well for a Swiss player. He also captained the Swiss national team on many occasions, playing in 13 World Championships with them and four Olympic Games.
