Not long after the federal council announced their new national measures - none of which impact the National or Swiss League -, the canton of Bern decided to ban events with over 1'000 attendees.
This will also affect SC Bern, EHC Biel, the SCL Tigers, and SC Langenthal, as all of their arenas still can host more than that amount of people, even under their protection concepts.
What exactly this means for the recently started National and Swiss League seasons remains to be seen. As Simon Graf (Tages-Anzeiger) tweeted, the National League wants to continue.
While EHC Biel, the SCL Tigers and SC Langenthal will issue press releases on Monday, SC Bern already issued a statement today. They do not understand the canton's decision, even call it disproportional, "especially given the fact that the Federal Council, at this point of time, has explicitly not called major events with corresponding concepts into question."
In their social media post, they also state that the next couple of games will take place and that they will try everything in their power to reverse the decision regarding the 1,000 person limit for major events as fast as possible.
