According to Klaus Zaugg (Watson), the clubs of the Swiss League (all of them except the EVZ Academy and the HCB Ticino Rockets) will meet today in Olten to establish a public limited company, which is going to take effect in 2022. Lawyer Jean Brogle is set to become its president.
As of 2022, a promotion will no longer be needed to join the Swiss League. Clubs will be able to buy themselves into the league. Apparently, EHC Basel and EHC Arosa are expected to make use of this option.
Such a "buy-in" also seems to be a possibility for the National League as of 2022, Zaugg reports. As a consequence, it might be no longer necessary for teams to earn themselves their spot in each league on the ice.
Also other rules are likely to fall: Whereas the Swiss League wants to keep their limitation of two import-players, all of the National League clubs (except the ZSC Lions) seem to agree on ten import-players as of 2022. The new limit would also include players in possession of a Swiss license.
