After a short stint in Switzerland with the ZSC Lions, Tommi Kivistö returns to Finland. Harri Aho, Kärpät Oulu's team manager, is convinced of Kivistö's abilities: "He is an extremely good defensive defender who can play physically and in tight positions," he is quoted on the club's website.
Tommi Kivistö joined the ZSC Lions at the end of February for the final stage of the season. Before that, he had played in the KHL for Jokerit Helsinki for five consecutive seasons.
