One Finnish goaltender (Mikko Koskinen) joins HC Lugano, another one leaves. Juho Markkanen will suit up for the Eisbären Berlin the coming season. He was playing in the Bianconeri's organization on loan from the Liiga's SaiPa.
"Juho Markkanen is a young and very talented goalkeeper who wants to take the next step in his career towards the NHL with us. We have been watching him for a while and are convinced of his abilities", the Eisbären's team manager Stéphane Richer comments on his new acquisition.
Berlin recently won the DEL championship. Their starting netminder, Mathias Niederberger, then signed with their final opponent, Red Bull Munich, for the coming season.
