A month before everything was shut down in 2020, HC Ajoie won against HC Davos in a sold-out Vaudoise Arena with 7-3. The atmosphere surrounding the event was electrifying. Tonight's game between SC Bern and the ZSC Lions in an empty Hallenstadium was, of course, a little different.

The first period was not eventful up to the first power play of the game. Jesper Olofsson converted their first chance and SCB took a 1-0 lead. However, that only lasted for two minutes: Denis Hollenstein tied the game with six minutes left in the first period.

While the second period started with slight advantages for the ZSC Lions, it was the Bears who once again scored first: Vincent Praplan regained the lead for the SCB. The score did once again not last more than two minutes, but this time SCB extended their lead through a goal by André Heim shortly after a power play.

The ZSC Lions did definitely not lack chances after the 3-1 by the Bears, but they were not able to convert. The period ended even worse for them, as SCB managed to secure a 4-1 lead after an odd-man rush. The Lions were not able to change the game in the third period which is why the Bears beat the Lions by 5-2 in the end.

SC Bern had to secure wins over EHC Basel (0-4), HC Davos (2-0), HC Ajoie (0-3), and Genève-Servette HC (3-2 SO) in order to advance to the final.
