The 35-year-old captain of HC Davos is set to play his 100th World Championship game for Switzerland in today's opening game against Italy.

After missing 2018, Slovakia marks Ambühl's 15th World Championship participation. With that, he catches up with former Finnish international Petteri Nummelin. Only his fellow countryman Mathias Seger has one more World Championship under his belt.

Will it be Ambühl's last one? "Let's play this Worlds now and then we'll see what happens next. But of course I hope that one or the other will be added, because I just love playing for the national team and going to the Worlds," he tells 20 Minuten.

In those 14 World Championships for Switzerland's senior national team thus far, Ambühl has managed to record 19 goals and 23 assists in 99 games. Overall, the forward has appeared in 254 international games, recording 112 points (40G, 72A).
