Gian Gilli is sure that a postponement of the IIHF Worlds to next year would not only be possible, but that it would be the "ideal solution", as he says to the Tribune de Genève. "It would allow us to finish the project we started. We worked four years to prepare it," the 62-year-old explains.
But even if the countries which will host the IIHF Worlds in the upcoming years would agree to a postponement, there are "still a lot of things that need to be clarified," Gilli says. The main question: Will the arenas in Zurich and Lausanne be available for the same conditions?
As the Tribune de Genève writes, this would most likely be the case for the Hallenstadion, but maybe not for the Vaudoise Arena. But for Gilli it is clear: "If we can hold the tournament in 2021 it would have to be in Zurich and Lausanne." The reason: 300,000 tickets have already been allocated to these two locations.
