The Officiating Management had asked the single judge to look into the incident involving Justin Abdelkader, stating that the way the forward reacted was not only "exaggerated and unnatural", but also showed that he wanted to get a penalty call by acting this way.
In his verdict, the single judge agrees with the Officiating Management's assessment, stating that while the player was slightly fouled, his behavior after the fact was not justified. He thus violated IIHF rule 138 "Diving or Embellishment" and will have to pay a fine of CHF 2,000.
