Staiger has been suspended for a total of two games, but he already sat out the last game on a provisional suspension. In addition to the two-game suspension, the 29-year-old forward has to pay a fine of CHF 950.
The incident (watch the video here) happened in the 25th minute of the game between EHC Winterthur and HC La Chaux-de-Fonds. Axelsson suffered a season-ending injury.
