RUMOR - It had already been rumored in the CdT that HC Lugano is interested in signing Swedish forward Carl Söderberg earlier. Now it seems as if the 2004 second round pick is very close to signing with the Bianconeri.

"The name sounds familiar", HCL's Roland Habisreutinger tells the Tages Anzeiger. "But we are in contact with several players and will see what happens."

While HC Lugano does not yet want to confirm the signing of the forward currently playing with the Boston Bruins, Swedish clubs have already been informed that he will not be coming back to his native country and intends to sign elsewhere.

The 29-year-old forward made his way to the NHL in 2013 when he moved from Linköping to Boston. With the Bruins, he is currently in his third NHL-season. After collecting 48 points in 73 games last season, he has put up 13 goals and 31 assists for 44 points in 82 games this season. (lcu)

UPDATE Söderberg's agent, Claes Elefalk, has denied the rumors of a possible move to Europe in a Tweet, saying that the forward will still be playing in the NHL next season. - 14 April 2015, 10:22 AM
