The 26-year-old goaltender started his season in the Ligue Magnus, appearing in six games for the Boxers de Bordeaux (.880 save percentage). His stint with the French team was always meant to be short, as they had signed him as an injury replacement for the Boxers' netminder Clément Fouquerel, who underwent surgery in May.
Giovannini already played for Genève-Servette HC in the 2015-16 season, when he appeared in one playoff game for them, posting .750 save percentage.
