There had been speculations one year ago that the 23-year-old, who is currently part of the AHL's Iowa Wild, might return to Switzerland and join SC Bern or Lausanne HC. However, he decided to spend another year in North America, trying to make the jump from the AHL to the NHL's Minnesota Wild.
The player's agent Georges Müller, however, denies the news of Bertschy joining Lausanne HC this summer on Twitter and says that it is Bertschy's goal to stay in North America past the current season. Asked by Jérôme Reynard (24 heures) if he is not in possession of a contract with LHC which includes an NHL clause, Müller replies that "his contract situation allows him to play in the NHL next season".
Christoph Bertschy left Switzerland, where he played for SC Bern, in 2015. Since then, he has been part of the Minnesota Wild organization. This season so far, the young forward suited up 42 times for their AHL-affiliate in Iowa and was able to put up a total of 17 points (eight goals, nine assists).
Fake news, Christoph Bertschy‘s goal is to stay in North America.
