As anticipated by Grégory Beaud (Le Matin), Damien Riat has agreed to terms with EHC Biel on a two-year contract. The deal will keep him in Seeland until the end of the 2019-20 season.

The Tribune de Genève revealed in late January that the 20-year-old forward was set to join the Seelanders for the upcoming season. Riat, who is a product of Genève-Servette HC's organization, is at the end of his contract with the Grenats and was thus free to look for a new employer for the 2018-19 season. His deal also includes an NHL out clause, which can be activated before July 20.

In 45 games for the Grenats this season, he has recorded twelve goals and twelve assists.
