SC Bern found a replacement for Ville Peltonen. The club announced the signing of Mikko Haapakoski as assistant coach for the next two seasons, as already anticipated by the Berner Zeitung a week ago.

The Finn started his coaching career as head coach of the U20-team of Oulun Kärpät in 2001. He then was assistant to the current SCB-head coach Kari Jalonen from 2004 to 2008 for Kärpät's men's team in the Finnish Liiga. In his coaching career, the 51-year-old has mostly been in the position of assistant so far, his last stint was with Liiga's KooKoo until the end of the 2016-2017 season.

During his playing career, Haapakoski was a defenseman for Bern from 1993 to 1996.

SC Bern also announced the extension of the contract with conditioning coach Roland Fuchs for two year. The 51-year-old has been with the team since 2012.
