Vauclair and the club have agreed on a one-year contract extension through to the 2018-19 season. Afterwards, the Bianconeri's alternate captain will hang up his skates and might take over a yet-to-be-determined job within HC Lugano's organization.

The 38-year-old defenseman and former Swiss international made his National League debut with the Bianconeri in the 1997-98 season and has appeared in 842 Championship games for them ever since, recording 110 goals and 167 assists.
