SC Bern had asked for proceedings to be initiated against the Lions' Klein for his hit to the head of Luca Hischier in Game 5. The single judge did not grant their appeal because Hischier continued to play for a part of the game. It thus did not look like as if he was injured on the play.

However, SC Bern appealed the single judge's verdict and submitted a doctor's note, which confirmed Hischier's injury, to the SIHF tribunal. As a hit to the head which leads to an injury carries a match penalty and with that an automatic one-game suspension, the tribunal has issued a one-game suspension to Klein. The Lions cannot appeal this decision. The entire verdict can be read here.
