Defenseman Cédric Hächler joined EHC Biel in January 2017 from the ZSC Lions. After finishing the season with the Seelanders, he signed a two-year deal with them. A deal, which he has now broken early. The Seelanders and the 24-year-old have agreed to part ways. Hächler only played 19 games for EHCB this season (0 points), in eleven games, he suited up for HC La Chaux-de-Fonds on loan.

Also about to leave EHC Biel are the two forwards Mathias Joggi and Fabian Sutter. Both have expiring contract, which will not be extended, the same source reports. Benoît Jecker, who has already signed with EHC Kloten, might stay in Biel if Kloten gets relegated, team manager Martin Steinegger confirms. Up in the air are still two of five import-spots. While Robbie Earl, Toni Rajala, and Marc-Antoine Pouliot have running contracts, Sam Lofquist and Jacob Micflikier do not, but remain options.

Still according to the Bieler Tagblatt, EHC Biel is interested in the services of Czech forward Roman Červenka for the upcoming season. "I would like to sign him," Steinegger says. "But it's not sure if we can afford him." The 32-year-old only Czech international recently decided not to extend his contract with HC Fribourg-Gottéron and look for a new challenge. For Gottéron, the he suited up in 37 games last season and put up 42 points (14 goals, 28 assists).
