Defenseman Benoît Jecker has made his choice: he will suit up for HC Lugano in the next two years. It was not an easy decision because the three offers were almost on par.

The 23-year-old defenseman had concrete offers from the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, HC Davos, and HC Lugano on the table, the Journal du Jura (relayed by SwissHabs) reports. "The offers were all two-year contracts with almost the same salary," Jecker explains. While Rapperswil as a newcomer in the National League was off the table rather quickly, Davos or Lugano was a tough decision: "I hesitated for a long time."

In the end, Jecker is sure to have made the right decision: "By joining a team that has reached the playoff final, I will have to get out of my comfort zone and work for ice time," the defenseman says to the same source. "Lugano will play in the Champions League (...), an excellent thing to face the best [players]." In addition to Lugano, Davos, and Rapperswil, he was also approached by HC Fribourg-Gottéron, but nothing concrete came of that: "A question of budget, it seems."
