The Lakers' head coach Jeff Tomlison already knows Bažány, as he used to be a member of the coaching staff of the Düsseldorfer EG when Marián Bažány was still playing there. The former defenseman will join the Lakers as of next Tuesday.
The 43-year-old was born in Slovakia but played the majority of his professional hockey career in Germany. He retired in 2013. From 2014 to 2017 he worked for the Eisbären Berlin, first as a conditioning coach, then as an assistant coach. In 2017, he joined the Krefeld Pinguine and worked as an assistant coach for them.
