At HCAP's press conference in late August last year, it became clear that the club still needed CHF 16 million (of 45 in total) to finance the entire project. Nevertheless, president Filippo Lombardi was hopeful that construction of the Biancoblù's new home would start in March this year.

Those CHF 16 million are reportedly linked to a banking group headed by with Ticino's cantonal bank, the BancaStato. However, as RSI reported yesterday, the BancaStato is supposedly considering taking a step back and leaving its position as head of this group, which might also put the funding of the arena in jeopardy.

HC Ambrì-Piotta reacted to the recent media reports today. The HCAP SA and Valascia Immobiliare SA made clear that they do not intend to comment on any negotiations of this kind that may be in progress, but reassured that the project is still following its course. The scheduled start of construction, however, has been and could be further delayed.

"The project and its funding quest continues with good intermediate results, but the two companies [HCAP SA and Valascia Immobiliare SA] will communicate the results only when they are final. The continuity of sporting activity is not in danger, and the public is invited to actively demonstrate their support in the context of the HCAP membership campaign for the 2018-19 season," the club added.
