Wellman joins the Lakers from the KHL's HK Sochi. With ten goals and 21 assists in 47 games, he was the second best scorer on his team this past season. The 30-year-old brings the experience of 54 NHL-games (six goals, ten assists) with the Minnesota Wild and the Washington Capitals, as well as 300 AHL-games (96 goals, 130 assists), one season in the SHL with Frölunda HC and another one in the KHL with Spartak Moskva.

"We have been trying to acquire Casey for quite a while," Lakers-head coach Jeff Tomlinson says, and adds that he is a versatile and smart player with a good shot.
