The 30-year-old defenseman's original contract would have lasted until the end of the 2018-19 season. His new deal will now keep him with the newly promoted team until the end of the 2019-20 season.

Berger is a product of the Lakers' organization and has - except for short stints with EHC Kloten and HC Ambrì-Piotta - played most of his career with the team. Last season, the defender recorded three goals and 21 assists in 60 games for the Lakers.
