The new contract, which is valid until 2021, will thus replace the current contract. The 30-year-old had been one of the Bianconeri's most reliable defensemen in the past season, which only ended with a 2-4 loss in the final series against the ZSC Lions, the club writes in a message.

Wellinger has been part of HC Lugano's squad since the beginning of last season, when he joined them from EHC Biel. Over the course of his first season with in black and white, he appeared in 59 games and recorded eleven points (one goal, ten assists).
