HC Lugano has agreed to terms with Taylor Chorney on a one-year contract, which includes the option for an additional season.

The 31-year-old defenseman last played for the Columbus Blue Jackets, having been claimed off waivers by them at the end of February. Chorney appeared in 178 NHL games throughout his career, recording four goals and 19 assists for the Washington Capitals, the Edmonton Oilers, the St. Louis Blues, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Blue Jackets.

He also played 400 games in the AHL, putting up 33 goals and 114 assists. His stint in the National League will be his first in Europe.
