The 33-year-old Canadian last suited up for the Los Angeles Kings, after he was traded to them by the Montréal Canadiens at the end of last November. In 53 games for them, he recorded six goals and five assists.
Mitchell has played well over 700 NHL games for five different organizations throughout his career, having been drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the 4th Round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
