Lerg's contract with HCAP also includes an option for another season in the Leventina. The 32-year-old joins Ambrì from the SHL, where he played for Rögle BK over the course of the past two seasons. For Rögle, Lerg appeared in 108 games, in which he recorded a total of 65 points (39 goals).

Apart from playing one game with Genève-Servette HC during the 2010-11 season, Rögle BK was Lerg's first team in Europe. Before joining the Swedes in 2016, he played in the AHL for eight years and also appeared in eight NHL games for the San Jose Sharks (one goal).
