Hughes (photo) has suffered a knee injury and will miss about eight weeks. Silas Matthys will replace Hughes for the time being. He has agreed to contract valid until mid-September.
The 25-year-old goaltender is a product of the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers' organization. Matthys played college hockey for the past five season for the Trinity Western University (BCIHL). Last season, he appeared in 18 regular season games for them, posting a .923 save percentage.
