For the Lakers, the 2017-18 season was a success on and off the ice. They generated a net profit of CHF 1,04 million.

They outpaced everyone else in the regular season, became Swiss League champions, got promoted to the National League, and won the Swiss Ice Hockey Cup. A successful season, which is also reflected in the finances: The net profit of CHF 1,04 million allowed the Lakers to expand their liquidity buffer to CHF 1,5 million and to invest into their youth department.

For their comeback-season in the National League, Rapperswil estimates a budget of CHF 11,2 million, which is an increase of four million compared to the past season. In order to prevail in Switzerland's highest league in the long term and to become a playoff candidate, they want to gradually increase their budget to CHF 15 million, the Board of Directors writes.

On the ice, the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers' goal is to secure their spot in the National League in the upcoming two seasons. In the third year, however, the Lakers want to clinch a playoff spot.
