As he tells the Berner Zeitung, right now, it is about getting his knee back in shape, so it does not interfere with his everyday life. His patella tendon still causes him pain and intense exercises are not possible.

He has not received a timetable from the doctors, so whether or not he will be able to return to the ice is not yet certain. For now, he is working on a future coaching career and has received the opportunity from the Tigers to gain some experience with their Elite A team. However, he is not paid for his work there.

Stettler did not receive a contract extension from the SCL Tigers. Due to a concussion, followed by his knee problems, he did not play a single game in the 2017-18 season.
