They won the Swiss League title last season, the Swiss Ice Hockey Cup, and accomplished the promotion to the National League. Reasons enough for Rapperswil's city council to award their annual sports prize in the category elite sports to the Lakers.
"In addition to the great sporting success, the positive development within the organisation as well as the thrilling atmosphere that was conveyed to the population were convincing," the city council writes.
According to the city of Rapperswil, the sports prizes are awarded to sportsmen and sportswomen for outstanding achievements in sport or in the promotion of sport. The award ceremony will take place at the end of November.
