The native of Schwamendingen/ZH, a homegrown talent of the Lions organisation, succeeded Mathias Seger as the ZSC Lions' captain at the beginning of the 2017-18 season. "It's very important that we are able to keep Geering on our team long-term and thus ensure continuity," ZSC's team manager Sven Leuenberger says.

The 28-year-old has been part of the Lions' National League team since the 2008-09 season. Since then, he celebrated three championship titles with them and also won the Swiss Ice Hockey Cup. Geering was also part of the team that won both the Champions Hockey League and the Victoria Cup in 2009.

This season, Patrick Geering only suited up in two regular season games so far due to an upper body injury (no points).
