Because their American import Casey Wellman is fit again, there is no need for the Lakers to extend the Czech's short-term contract.

Radek Smolenak has to find himself a new team.

Smolenak was signed to a one-month tryout deal by the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers at the beginning of October, including an option for the entire 2018-19 season. However, since Casey Wellman has recovered from his injury and is back in the lineup, the club will not make use of said option.

According to Blick's Christoph Schär, the 31-year-old Czech forward will leave the Rosenstädter after Saturday's home game against Fribourg. Smolenak has appeared in a total of seven games for the Lakers, recording one goal and one assists.
