With his current contract running out after this season, the defenseman has now been signed until 2024.

Christian Marti, a Lion for five more years

Marti joined the ZSC Lions in 2016 on a three-year deal spending one season in the system of the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers. He mostly played for their AHL-affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, and never got a chance to suit up on the big stage. Now the 25-year-old defenseman will stay with the Lions for five more seasons.

"Christian is a physically strong player and a big body and in my eyes one of the best Swiss defensive defensemen", ZSC-team manager Sven Leuenberger comments on Marti.

In his 110 National League games with the Lions so far, Marti has recorded four goals and 14 assists. He has also been part of two World Championships with the Swiss national team and has appeared in 44 games for Switzerland so far.
