Whereas Roger Karrer leaves the club at the end of the season, Reto Schäppi stays in Zurich for at least two more years.

"With his sense of responsibility and reliability, Reto has developed into a valuable leader and has become part of the captain team," the ZSC Lions' team manager Sven Leuenberger says about the contract extension with his 27-year-old forward.

The Swiss international is a homegrown talent and has suited up in 483 National League games for the Lions so far. He put up a total of 133 points (59 goals) and is a three-time Swiss champion. This season, Schäppi has appeared in 17 games and put up three points (two goals).
