"With his sense of responsibility and reliability, Reto has developed into a valuable leader and has become part of the captain team," the ZSC Lions' team manager Sven Leuenberger says about the contract extension with his 27-year-old forward.

The Swiss international is a homegrown talent and has suited up in 483 National League games for the Lions so far. He put up a total of 133 points (59 goals) and is a three-time Swiss champion. This season, Schäppi has appeared in 17 games and put up three points (two goals).
