Del Curto joined Davos in 1996 and has been with the club ever since. Now, in his 23rd season, he has decided to step down as head coach. This comes after the team has been struggling this season, only winning seven out of 21 games and currently sitting in eleventh place.

In his time with Davos, the 62-year-old won six Swiss Championship titles - the first one in 2002, the last one in 2015. He also gathered five Spengler Cup wins. During the 2015-2016 season, Davos reached the semifinal of the Champions Hockey League.

«His unique, passionate way in which he shaped his players.»
HC Davos on Arno Del Curto

As the club writes in their press release, "Arno was way more than a successful coach. To unique, passionate way, in which he shaped his players, and with a distinct, offensive, fast-paced way of playing, he did not only excite HCD-supporters, but all fans of attractive, spectacular hockey throughout a lot of years."

As a temporary solution for at least today's Swiss Ice Hockey Cup-game against the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, the two assistant coaches Remo Gross and Sandro Rizzi will be behind the bench, as Kristian Kapp (Tages-Anzeiger) writes on Twitter.
