In 2017, the 27-year-old joined the SCL Tigers from EV Zug. "Samuel wanted more responsibility, which he has found here with us," the Tigers' team manager Marco Bayer says. Thanks to his new contract, Erni will stay in the Emmental at least until the end of the 2020-21 season.
