Samuel Kreis and Anssi Salmela, both defensemen, renewed their contracts with EHC Biel.

Anssi Salmela is in his first season in Switzerland.

After being linked to SC Bern, Samuel Kreis decided to remain in Biel and signed an extension for two years. Moreover, Anssi Salmela, who arrived at the beginning of this season, will remain at least for one more year. EHC Biel has now two imports under contract for the 2019-2020 season, the second being Toni Rajala.

Martin Steinegger, EHC Biel's team manager, on the two defensemen: "Anssi, with his experience, dedication, and attitude, has immediately taken on a leadership role in our team. We are very happy to continue to count on his services." and "Kreis confirms his strong performances from the first season and is a pillar of our defense. Sämi is a mobile skater with a good game overview"

Kreis, 24, recorded seven points (two goals and five assists) so far in this season, while Salmela, 34, scored seven goals and put up six assists. Moreover, the Finn leads the team with a +11 balance.
