On April 27, the men's team of the ZSC Lions won their ninth Swiss championship title, defeating HC Lugano in the finals. Today, they have received the Sports Award of the city of Zurich for the year 2018 in the category individual sport/team.
The city council has decided on the winners of the different categories in their meeting today. It followed the suggestions of the jury, led by Filippo Leutenegger, head of the department for school and sports. The award is primarily an ideational honor, but also comes with some prize-money, in the Lions' case CHF 10'000.
