Praplan will thus get another chance to try and make it to the NHL. His contract expires at the end of the season and he will be a restricted free agent. Whether he will be able to stay with the Panthers or find another NHL team remains to be seen.

However, according to the Berner Zeitung's Reto Kirchhofer, should the forward decide to return to Switzerland for the 2019-20 season, he will suit up for SC Bern. The Bears' team manager Alex Chatelain remains tight-lipped about the subject matter: "We'll communicate if there is something to communicate."

Praplan signed his first NHL contract with the San Jose Sharks last spring. The former EHC Kloten forward played 27 games for their AHL affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda, this season, recording four goals and twelve assists.
