Originally, Martin Steinegger gave him time until Christmas to decide whether the captain wanted to stay for another season or retire. The deadline was extended in January.

"A lot is still possible and I am still motivated. That is why I am very grateful to be able to play another season [with EHC Biel]," the 34-year-old forward states in the press release.

Tschantré has played his entire career with the Seelanders and made his debut with the first team in the 2000-01 season. In 2008, he was named captain of the team and has remained in this position ever since. This season, the forward put up six goals and seven assists in 47 regular season games.
