"Reaching the playoffs was the only thing that was satisfying. I give the team a mark of 3,5," Vicky Mantegazza says to the news agency Keystone-SDA. This means: unsatisfactory. Is it also an evaluation of Greg Ireland's work? No clear answer from Mantegazza: "We will now take a couple of days and see what we have to do. We will discuss everything and take decisions, if necessary,"

In the last days, a rumor surfaced in the Ticino about who might be a possible successor of Ireland, the Tages-Anzeiger and the Neue Zürcher Zeitung write: the former Finnish international Sami Kapanen. The 45-year-old is currently coach and proprietor of the Liiga's Kalpa Kuopio, with which he won the Spengler Cup in December.

What is clear is that HC Lugano will have to make do without Gregory Hofmann (EV Zug), Elvis Merzlikins (Columbus/NHL), and Luca Cunti (EHC Biel). Sébastien Reuille announced that he will most likely retire and also Julien Vauclair's contract is running out and has not yet been extended.
