According to the Freiburger Nachrichten, the 18-year-old defenseman will probably extend his stint in Canada for another year.

Aebischer is still in possession of a development contract with HC Fribourg-Gottéron, which is valid until the end of the upcoming 2019-20 season. At the beginning of January, the youngster told La Liberté that he will wait for the NHL-Draft to take a final decision.

This season, David Aebischer has suited up for the Gatineau Olympiques in the QMJHL. In 59 games he put up a total of 28 points (four goals).

18-year-old forward Sandro Schmid, on the other hand, will return to Fribourg next season. He has spent this season on loan with the Malmö Redhawks. However, the Dragons will most likely loan him to their partner team HC Ajoie for the 2019-20 season.
